How It Works & Health Standards
The Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) is the dimensionless ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips. It is calculated as waist measurement divided by hip measurement. WHR is used as a measurement of obesity, which in turn is a possible indicator of other more serious health conditions.
Formula: WHR = Waist Circumference / Hip Circumference (must use same units)
WHO Health Risk Standards

| Low Risk | < 0.90 | < 0.80 |
| Moderate Risk | 0.90 - 0.99 | 0.80 - 0.84 |
| High Risk | ≥ 1.00 | ≥ 0.85 |
