- If your weight exceeds the screening table weight, you must pass this body fat test to meet standards.
Methodology & Standards (AR 600-9)
The Army Body Fat Calculator follows the Army Regulation 600-9 (The Army Body Composition Program). It estimates body fat using circumference measurements to determine compliance with active duty standards. Soldiers exceeding weight-for-height tables must pass this body fat test.
Male Formula: 86.010 × log10(Waist-Neck) - 70.041 × log10(Height) + 36.76
Female Formula: 163.205 × log10(Waist+Hip-Neck) - 97.684 × log10(Height) - 78.387
*Note: Formulas use inches; metric inputs are converted automatically.*
